BRIDE: The bride purchases the groom’s wedding ring and a gift for him. Other items consist of:
- Her personal stationery.
- Her physical exam and tests: if required.
- A gift for maid of honor and each of her bridesmaids, and lodging for any out-of-town attendants.
**NOTE: To cut down on the need for transportation, it helps to plan the logistics of the wedding in such a way that people’s lodging, the wedding site, and the reception are as close together as possible.
GROOM: He purchases the bride’s engagement and wedding rings, and a gift. And then the following:
- The marriage license.
- The bride’s bouquet and her going away flowers.
- Corsages for his mother and the bride’s mother.
- Boutonnieres for the male attendants.
- Gifts for his best man and ushers.
- Lodging for any of his attendants who come from out of town.
- His physical exam/required tests. (if necessary).
- The stipend (fee) for the person who offiates at the wedding.
- His wedding attire, and……
- The honeymoon.
BRIDE’S PARENTS:
- Bridesmaid’s bouquets.
- Bride’s wedding day attire and trousseau.
- Ceremony site rental.
- Their own clothes
- Flowers and decorations for the wedding site and reception (including an aisle carpet if needed).
- Food and beverages for the reception ( including tips for bartenders and servers).
- Gifts for the Bride and Groom
- Invitations and wedding announcements, including postage and any other fees.’
- Musicians
- Photographer/videographer
- Reception site rental
- Services of a bridal consultant
- Tenting for an outdoor wedding and/or reception , and of the
- Wedding cake
- Music at the ceremony
GROOM’S PARENTS: (In most cases the parents of the groom voluntarily assume additional expenses, but the following are their traditional expenses).
- Hosting the rehearsal dinner
- Gifts to the bride and groom
- Their own travel and lodging expenses
- Their own wedding clothes
- All beverages served at the reception
- Limousine service
- Music at the wedding reception
MALE AND FEMALE ATTENDANTS: (They have relatively minor financial obligations. After all, they are serving at the invitation of the bride and groom).
Essentially, their financial responsibility is limited to:
- Paying for their own wedding clothes
- Their personal travel expenses
- A wedding gift for the bride and groom
BRIDE AND GROOM:
- The bride’s attire
- The wedding flowers
- The bride’s luncheon
- Invitations, announcements and personal stationery (thank you notes)
- Entertainment and courtesies for out of town guests
